Genetics play a large role in a man’s body type and the areas of the body in which fat is stored. Many patients struggle with stubborn fatty deposits that settle on their hips, buttocks, thighs, stomachs and/or arms. These trouble areas are often resistant to the traditional weight-loss methods of diet and exercise and can be a source of distress for patients.
Liposuction is one of the only successful solutions for treating and eliminating these problem areas. With the liposuction procedure, patients can spot-reduce and remove localized fat deposits to achieve slimmer, more toned physiques.
Liposuction in Naples
The liposuction process begins with a meeting between the patient and Dr. Gardner or Dr. Baccoro designed to gain a deep understanding of the patient's concerns and goals. During this time, the chosen surgeon also works with the patient to determine the appropriate technique and procedure tthat will best meet his needs. One of the recommended techniques offered is tumescent liposuction, which decreases bruising and pain postoperatively.
Liposuction is an advanced body contouring procedure that requires surgical finesse and a strong sense of artistry. Before the proceudre can begin, Dr. Gardner or Dr. Baccaro will first determine the ideal incision locations on the body to encourage minimal scarring and promote fat removal precision. Next, the surgeon and surgical team will prepare the patient for surgery.
To begin the procedure, a wetting solution of saline and epinephrine is infused into the problem areas to minimize blood loss and increase the ease of fat removal. Following infusion of the solution, the surgeon will gently suction out stubborn subcutaneous fat cells to successfully spot-reduce fat deposits. Depending on how much fat is to be removed, the patient is offered local anesthesia or, if extensive suctioning is required, general anesthesia. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis at the practice's surgical suite, which has passed the strict regulations outlined by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF).
Precision Neck Liposuction
Patients who feel they may posses a double chin or extraneous sagging skin on the neck may consider precision neck liposuction. Even when a patient retains a healthy weight, it is possible that excess fat in the neck and jowls can cause a loss of definition and elasticity.
For most patients, neck liposuction is a quick procedure and can be performed with local anesthesia. Small incisions are made under the chin or behind the ears. Dr. Gardner or Dr. Baccaro then remove excess fat while sculpting the remaining tissue to form a natural contour for the chin and neck.
Recovering from Liposuction Surgery
Following liposuction surgery with Gardner Plastic Surgery, patients typically need rest for one to two weeks before being able to return to their daily schedules. Patients may experience slight swelling and bruising for several days after the procedure, and the treatment area may be wrapped with bandages or supportive garments in order to encourage faster recovery periods. Patients are strongly discouraged from engaging in any type of strenuous activity, including exercise, for at least three to six weeks following surgery to prevent complications.
Like many procedures, liposuction can put patients at risk for surgical complications, such as infection or swelling. However, Dr. Gardner and Dr. Baccaro have years of combined experience performing liposuction procedures and hold an exceptional surgical record with minimal complications.
