RENUVION®

Originally marketed under the J-Plasma® brand 20 years ago, the technology has been adopted for a variety of surgical applications in recent years due to its safety profile, ability to minimize thermal spread to other areas, and effectiveness. In particular, cosmetic surgeons helped drive its use for soft tissue contraction, with many calling it one of the most exciting advancements they’ve seen in two decades.

Because the effectiveness of Renuvion® varies by skin and body types, Dr. Baccaro assess all potential patients with an examination and consultation to determine whether they are good candidates for the procedure.

Depending upon the treatment aims and targeted area, your Renuvion® procedure will be conducted under either a local anesthetic with oral sedation or under general anesthesia. Once you are prepped, Dr. Baccaro will make some small incisions into and under the skin through which a thin wand will be inserted. The wand then precisely delivers a stream of Helium plasma and RF energy into the tissues below the skin’s surface.

The combination of targeted heat and ionic and reactive particles from the plasma induce a contraction in the dermis and underlying tissue. This immediately helps tone the skin and reduce any of its crepe-like appearance. As previously noted, the enhanced tone and contraction will continue to improve over subsequent months.

Dr. Baccaro typically likes to conduct a follow up exam several weeks after the procedure to ensure full healing of treated areas and to assess the continued improvements to skin tone and contours.
