Hybrid Breast Augmentation in Naples, FL

Hybrid breast augmentation is emerging as an advanced technique that combines breast implants with autologous fat grafting and internal support to produce the most natural and aesthetically pleasing results possible. Tailored in part for braless fashion, the technique is designed to create a firm, stable cleavage that looks great in all clothing. The benefits of hybrid breast augmentation offered by Naples Plastic Surgery include:
  • Breast contours can be naturally and harmoniously adjusted around the implants to achieve the desired shape and firmness.
  • The hybrid technique significantly lowers the risk of wrinkling, also known as rippling.
  • Implants are placed under the muscle using a technique called a “modified dual plane,” specifically designed for each patient.
  • It offers better, more natural-looking results in patients with asymmetrical breasts or those with a congenital chest wall deformity
  • The transplanted autologous fat tissue contains stem cells, which can help improve skin elasticity

Dr. Baccaro is pleased to offer hybrid breast augmentation as an enhancement to his surgical skills and sense of artistry in cosmetic breast surgery. With outstanding training, experience, and a dedicated commitment to patient satisfaction, patients throughout Florida seek out the cosmetic surgery expertise offered by Naples Plastic Surgery.

Hybrid Breast Augmentation in Naples, FL

Your hybrid breast augmentation at Naples Plastic Surgery begins with a detailed consultation with Dr. Baccaro. This meeting is used to develop a personalized breast augmentation treatment plan designed around the patient’s aesthetic goals. Your surgeon will work with you to determine the type and size of the implant, along with the appropriate placement of autologous fat deposits to create the desired shape and firmness. The patient and surgeon will also decide which parts of the body—abdomen, flanks, or thighs—should be used to provide the required amount of fat for the procedure.

The actual surgery is performed with small incisions usually placed under the breasts. Dr. Baccaro uses a special technique when placing the implant underneath the muscle, called a “modified dual plane,” which is designed specifically for each patient. He then gently inserts the implant into the pocket and injects fat tissue into the surrounding area as needed. The implants and fat are then artfully contoured within the breasts to help achieve the desired natural-looking results as planned for during the consultation.

In addition to the augmentation, your surgery might include other breast enhancement procedures if the initial consultation determined that they might further enhance results. For example, many mothers and other women unhappy with changes to their breasts decide to combine a breast lift with their hybrid breast augmentation to further add to the fullness and youthful look of their breasts.

Recovering from Hybrid Breast Augmentation

Our surgeons perform all breast enhancement surgeries on location at Naples Plastic Surgery, a fully accredited outpatient surgical facility. All members of our surgical team are dedicated to providing patients with the most comfortable cosmetic surgery possible and with ensuring that it yields minimal complications and the best aesthetic results. As an outpatient procedure, hybrid breast augmentation allows patients to return to their homes after a brief rest in our recovery room.

You will need to wear a soft post-surgical support bra to protect your breasts and a compression garment over areas that had received liposuction. Pain usually subsides in two to five days, but you can expect ongoing swelling and soreness for a few weeks after. Your surgeon may prescribe you pain medications and antibiotics, and it’s important to follow all post-operative instructions provided. This includes maintaining a healthy weight, as significant weight loss can impact results. In general, patients need one to two weeks of rest after the procedure before they can resume their usual activities.

Hybrid Breast Augmentation FAQ

How does Naples Plastic Surgery preview what my breasts will look like after surgery?

Naples Plastic Surgery uses a Vectra 3D breast augmentation simulator to show patients the potential aesthetic outcomes of all cosmetic breast augmentation procedures. Vectra 3D lets patients visualize how their breasts might look from all angles and helps the patient and surgeon fine-tune the desired aesthetic outcome.

Who are good candidates for hybrid breast augmentation?

More than 300,000 North American women seek out breast augmentation and related cosmetic beast surgery procedures annually. As with any surgery, the best candidates are those who maintain a healthy lifestyle, don’t smoke, and are reasonably within range of their ideal weight.

Hybrid breast augmentation is a good option for nearly all patients who would qualify for traditional breast implants, but it’s particularly ideal for thin patients with minimal breast tissue, as implants alone in such patients are more prone to complications. The technique is also more suitable for those with asymmetrical breasts, those with a congenital chest wall deformity, or a breast condition that cannot be corrected by an implant alone.

How do I determine whether I should include a breast lift with my hybrid breast augmentation?

Hybrid breast augmentation can reduce the appearance of some sagging of the breasts, but significant sagging usually requires a breast lift for proper correction. Your need for a possible breast lift in conjunction with hybrid breast augmentation will be assessed during your initial consultation with your surgeon.

What types of implants does Naples Plastic Surgery recommend with hybrid breast augmentation?

While both saline and silicone implants are perceived to have an excellent safety profile, silicone implants are lauded for providing a more natural feel that closely approximates breast tissue, with less chance of rippling.

Hybrid breast augmentation works best with silicone implants as it is easier to manipulate them in conjunction with the injected fat to achieve the perfect contours desired. Saline implants can also be used for hybrid breast augmentation. At Naples Plastic Surgery, we offer the Ideal Implant, which is the newest and best option for saline devices. The Ideal Implant is a saline implant with multiple shells that gives a more natural-appearing result and less rippling. The choice of which implant to use will ultimately be determined during your initial consultation with your surgeon.

Can hybrid breast augmentation be used for implant replacement surgery?

Yes, provided you are a good candidate for the procedure. In such cases, removal of the original implants becomes one of the first steps of the procedure. This may require more extensive surgery, such as a breast lift or internal mesh scaffold (Galaflex), depending on the patient.

How much autologous fat is required for the surgery?

The estimated amount of autologous fat needed for the surgery varies by patients depending upon aesthetic goals. Because up to 30% of the fat can be reabsorbed by the body, your surgeon typically injects more fat than required to achieve the desired results, but such excess fat will decrease in the ensuing weeks.

Can I breastfeed after breast augmentation surgery?

Hybrid breast augmentation does not usually impact a woman’s ability to breastfeed, and breast implant materials, such as saline or silicone, cannot be passed onto the baby through breast milk.

How soon can I return to normal activities after hybrid breast implant surgery?

Most of our Naples-area patients can resume mobility within a day or two of the procedure, and any discomfort can be addressed by over-the-counter and/or prescription pain medications. This means that you can shower and tend to other personal hygiene regimens almost immediately. Patients are usually able to return to work within a week, though any movements requiring lifting, pushing, or stretching of the arms should be carried out with care. Whether work-related or as a resumption of exercise routines, movements should be made with care and modified if they lead to discomfort.

After two weeks of recovery, most moderate exercises and movements that affect the upper body are unlikely to impact the incision or breast implant placement, but strenuous exercise should be avoided. Most patients can resume a full, rigorous exercise regimen five to six weeks after the surgery. Sexual activities can be resumed as soon as the desire returns, but the breast should be treated gently during the recovery period.

Are hybrid breast augmentation scars noticeable?

Similar to standard breast augmentation, resultant scars are typically short in length and well-disguised within the creases beneath the breasts. Longer incisions going up to the nipple may be apparent in those who opt for combination enhancement procedures, such as the breast lift.
