Naples Plastic Surgery

If you are looking for a non-invasive, non-surgical alternative to liposuction and other fat elimination procedures, consider CoolSculpting®. Available through Naples Plastic Surgery, CoolSculpting® is the only FDA-approved treatment that relies on controlled chilling to safely target and eliminate diet and exercise-resistant fat. With a proven track record since European approval in 2000, the FDA has cleared CoolSculpting® for use in treating visible fat in the thighs, abdomen, flank, back, and, most recently, the submental (chin) area.

How CoolSculpting® Works

Also known as “Cryolipolosis,” CoolSculpting® eliminates diet and exercise-resistant fat by targeting localized fat deposits with freezing. The controlled freeze causes the fat cells to crystalize and die, and the body’s own natural metabolic process breaks down and removes the dead fat cells over the subsequent weeks and months. The surrounding skin and tissue remain unaffected during the procedure, because fat cells freeze at higher temperatures.
Because CoolSculpting® is a non-surgical and non-invasive procedure, there is no downtime or extensive recovery period, and few side effects beyond light bruising and numbness around the vicinity of the treated area. Thus, CoolSculpting® is perfect for people who want to avoid the downtime, or are otherwise looking for alternatives to liposuction and other more invasive procedures.

CoolSculpting® in Naples

The actual treatment is much easier than liposuction and most other fat treatments. After an initial consultation with one of our surgeons or Medspa specialists, we’ll tailor an individualized CoolSculpting® treatment plan designed to meet your goals by safely reducing problem fat pockets that are limiting your positive body image. Once in treatment the device is strategically positioned to best target the fat deposits and the controlled freezing is slowly applied. During the treatment session you might feel a bit of pressure and intense cold at first, but these sensations soon go away. At this point many patients read, surf the Internet or even take a nap.

Because it’s likely that you have more than one area on your body that contains diet-and-exercise-resistant fat, Naples Plastic Surgery offers dual CoolSculpting® with two devices so that you can treat multiple stubborn fatty areas twice as fast. Whatever the case, our Medspa will come up with a plan to help you sculpt and firm those parts of the body affected by stubborn fat.

Recovering from CoolSculpting®

Potential side effects from CoolSculpting® include temporary numbness, redness, swelling, bruising, tingling, stinging and minor pain. Once the session is concluded, you can typically return to work or engage in any other normal every-day activities. As it takes a while for your metabolic system to process the dead fat, don’t expect to see immediate results. It usually takes up to three weeks for noticeable changes to appear, with the most dramatic results occurring after two months. After this, your body will continue to flush out the dead cells for another four to six months, so additional noticeable improvements are possible.
