Dr. Baccaro on Upper Blepharoplasty

Video Transcript – Dr. Baccaro on Upper Blepharoplasty

Upper blepharoplasty, also known as an upper eyelid lift, is a surgery aimed at improving the aesthetics of the upper eyelids and, in some cases, improving vision. As with all tissues, the upper eyelids lose elasticity over time. This laxity might give the appearance of being tired, sad, or angry. Occasionally, it can cause obstruction of the field of view, making people more prone to accidents or falling.

Another common issue is difficulty putting on makeup for female patients. The procedure is done by carefully removing excess skin, muscle, and fatty tissue to achieve a pleasing shape and contour. For healthy patients, the procedure can be done under local anesthetic without needing general anesthesia. It’s a short procedure, and you can go home the same day.

Swelling may last 1 to 2 weeks, but most patients can return to light activity after only 2 or 3 days. Thanks very much.
