Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Naples Plastic Surgery
Blepharoplasty is an advanced plastic surgery procedure that treats sagging skin around the upper and lower eyelid areas. It can also treat prominent under-eye bags and ptosis (drooping eyelids). Following eyelid surgery, our male patients often look younger and more rested, achieving a dramatically improved appearance.

Sagging skin around the eyelid area can cause our male patients to look constantly fatigued, despite being well rested. In many instances, aesthetic eye conditions are genetic, such as ptosis and under-eye circles. Because these conditions are caused by laxity in the skin, few topical treatments can have any significant effect. This leaves eyelid surgery as one of the only effective methods to treat them.
Dr. Gardner begins all eyelid surgery procedures by meeting with the patient personally, and discussing any aesthetic concerns or goals they may have. He then uses this information to tailor a treatment plan that will specifically meet all of the patient's unique needs. Dr. Gardner may suggest the procedure be done in his office under oral sedation, or if the surgery is more extensive, in his state-of-the-art surgical suite, which is endorsed by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF)
Once Dr. Gardner and his team prep the patient for surgery, the procedure begins with a small incision along the crease of the upper eyelid and/or along the eyelash line of the lower lid. Then, Dr. Gardner removes excess fat, muscle and skin in order to tighten up the sagging eyelids and achieve a smoother, more refreshed appearance. In patients who suffer from ptosis, or droopy eyelids, he may also strengthen muscle tone in order to treat obstructed vision.
Recovering from Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery is performed on an outpatient basis. Dr. Gardner will apply bandages and lubrication to the eyes, and a detailed list of instructions will be given to the patient and their caregiver to ensure a healthy recovery. Patients are encouraged to regularly apply eye drops and cold compresses, and to elevate their heads in order to alleviate swelling and promote healing. Sun exposure should be limited during recovery, and patients are asked to wear sunglasses and sunblock whenever they come into contact with sunlight.
Blepharoplasty is a complicated elective surgical procedure that can develop complications. Dr. Gardner holds extensive experience and expertise in performing cosmetic eyelid surgery, making him one of the most sought-after eyelid surgeons in Naples.
