Male Breast Reduction
Naples Plastic Surgery
Approximately one-half of all men in the United States suffer from gynecomastia, a medical condition in which localized fat and/or excess tissue builds up in the male breast. Gynecomastia has no known cause and can lead males to feel insecure about their appearance. At Gardner Plastic Surgery, Dr. Gardner provides treatment for gynecomastia in the form of male breast reduction surgery.
Gynecomastia surgery is a breast enhancement procedure designed to remove and reshape a man's breast tissue in order to help him achieve a more toned chest. Following the procedure, men often achieve the slimmer physiques they desire along with higher levels of confidence.
Male Breast Reduction in Naples
Prior to every procedure, Dr. Gardner meets with the patient for a one-on-one consultation in order to determine their goals and expectations. He then uses this information to develop a personalized treatment plan that will help them achieve these goals.
At our accredited plastic surgery facility, the procedure is started with a small incision in the nipple or underarm area, followed by the extraction of excess tissue, fat and skin. In many instances, Dr. Gardner may perform liposuction to remove stubborn fatty deposits from the chest. Once excess tissues have been removed, Dr. Gardner reshapes the breast tissue to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing chest.
Recovering from Gynecomastia
Males undergo gynecomastia surgery on an outpatient basis, allowing them to recover from the comfort of their own homes. Following the procedure, patients typically need one to two weeks of rest before returning to their daily activities. Dr. Gardner may recommend that patients wear a compression garment to assist in the healing process and help the chest retain its desired position. While male breast reduction does not treat the underlying cause of gynecomastia, it is highly successful at improving the appearance of the condition and in helping men regain their self-esteem.
Like all surgical procedures, male breast reduction may have a risk of complications; however, gynecomastia patients often feel at ease after reviewing Dr. Gardner's outstanding surgical record and feel confident they are in good hands.
