Naples Plastic Surgery
The purpose of chin augmentation in aesthetic plastic surgery is to bring the chin in to balance with the rest of the face and profile. There are a few options in chin augmentation that allow you to choose the size and shape based on the proportions of your facial structure.
Considering Chin Augmentation
- If you have a weak chin and wish to make it more proportional to the rest of your face.
- If you want to improve the definition or fullness of the chin.
- If you wish to make your facial aesthetics more proportioned.
- If you wish to repair damage or asymmetrical appearance as a result of injury or otherwise.
The options for chin augmentation include placing a chin implant, using fat, or moving the bone of the chin. Chin implants are most commonly done, and a range of shapes and sizes can be tailored to each patient.
Along with chin augmentations, there are other incredible plastic surgeries that can improve the contours and aesthetics of the face like face lifts, rhinoplasty, neck liposuction, and more.
Your Chin Augmentation Procedure
If an implant is used, similarly to other facial procedures performed by Dr. Gardner, the necessary anesthetic is administered and a small incision is placed inside the mouth or under the chin. Then a small pocket is created and the implant or augmentation is placed. Then the area is closed and sutured.
Recovering from Chin Augmentation
Dr. Gardner will discuss with you when an appropriate time is before you can return to your regular activities. Following the surgery, you will receive detailed information regarding post-surgical care. Immediately following your procedure, you will experience some amount of bruising and swelling along with modest discomfort lasting no more than a few days. You can apply a cold compress to reduce swelling in the area.
Your chin augmentation should be permanent. It will be important to follow-up with Dr. Gardner after plastic surgeries to promote a healthy outcome.
